About Us

When we open, where we are and how you can come and join the team - all in one handy location.

  • Yes! TQUK is an Ofqual-recognised Awarding Organisation, meaning we've demonstrated our ability and ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest of standards in relation to how we develop and deliver our regulated products. We’re also regulated by Ofqual’s equivalent regulator in Northern Ireland: CCEA

As an End-Point Assessment Organisation, we’re also recognised by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, so you can be assured that our end-point assessments meet all the necessary requirements for accuracy, fairness and reliability as set down by the IfATE.

Being recognised isn’t easy and it takes a lot of work to remain compliant, but we’re proud of our status. It means that our learners have peace of mind from knowing that our qualifications are accessible and purposeful, our assessments are fair and consistent, and our centres receive the best possible service.

  • The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) is a non-ministerial government department that regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England.

Ofqual regulates exams, qualifications and tests in England. Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland are regulated by each respective national government. However, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is also accredited by Ofqual.

  • AQA are TQUK’s parent company, having acquired us in December 2022, and we’re delighted to be part of a company with a long history of creating positive change in education.

We still function as two distinct businesses, so TQUK customers aren’t necessarily AQA customers and vice versa, but we collaborate closely to provide a stronger suite of products and services to everyone we work with.

In other words, we’re still TQUK, delivering TQUK’s amazing qualifications and End-Point Assessment services, but now we’re backed by one of the biggest education organisations in the world.

  • We’re always on the lookout for bright sparks to join the TQUK team and have a range of jobs available if you fancy applying. Just hit the Vacancies on our website to find out more.

  • If you’re one of our centres or training providers and would like to work with us on a joint marketing campaign, drop our team a line at office@tquk-esea.org and they’ll be in touch to talk your idea through.

Awarding

From registration to certification, if you've got a question about awarding we've got it covered.

  • The Regulated Qualifications Framework (or 'RQF' for short) is where all Ofqual-regulated qualifications are recorded.

The list is maintained by Ofqual, so if you're looking for assurance that a qualification meets our governing body's strict quality standards, the register is the place to look.

For extra reassurance, we choose to include the suffix (RQF) at the end of all our regulated qualification titles.

Find out more by visiting the RQF website.

  • Simple. Just head over to the Register of Regulated Qualifications, where all Ofqual-regulated qualifications are recorded. The list is maintained by Ofqual, so you can be sure that if it appears here, it’s regulated.

  • If you have any specific questions, we're happy to help out. Just call our Business Development Team on +852 3100 0009 or email them at office@tquk-esea.org

Please note that these costs apply only to our centres, not learners or apprentices. If you're a learner, please contact your centre or training provider to discuss learner fees, as these vary.

General

  • Yes! Once you’ve completed the process and your centre recognition has been confirmed, our Operations Team will send out a brand-spanking, shiny certificate for you to put on your wall for all to see.

  • Once you achieve centre recognition and begin working with us, we put an agreement in place that clearly sets out what we can expect from each other.

Adhering to this contract is really important as it gives us assurance that we’re all meeting the conditions of recognition set out by our regulators and helps avoid burdensome investigations and audits. Most importantly, it protects our learners.

One way we can collectively maintain this status quo is by conducting ongoing recognition activities. These are periodic, external checks on how you’re meeting the requirements of your agreement undertaken by TQUK. The aim of these activities - that may be desk-based or involve a visit to your centre - is to satisfy us that everything is running as it should, but also to offer you the opportunity to ask us any questions, seek support and have a general chat about best practice.

  • Please contact your dedicated Business Development officer. Our Quality Team will review the request and make the changes. An admin fee will apply.

Centre Recognition and Management

Assessors and IQAs (centre staff)

  • Making sure assessors and IQAs have the right skills and competencies to do the job helps us ensure everything is compliant. So, when your centre applies for a qualification or endorsement, we ask you to send us the following information for each staff member:

    • Certificates for the Assessor and/or IQA qualifications, and

    • An up-to-date CV

All required documents can be found in the qualification specification. The Quality team checks submissions and if anything is missing, an information request is sent to the quality contact at your centre.

It’s not always essential that staff have completed their qualifications in order to be approved as an assessor or IQA. If you’re able to provide evidence that they’re working towards their qualifications – such as proof of registration – and can provide an expected completion date, we’ll approve the booking in the same way as if the qualification had already been achieved.

What’s considered reasonable depends on the individual needs of the learner or apprentice, cost implications and the practicality and effectiveness of the adjustment.

Reasonable adjustments are different to special considerations. A special consideration can only be made for temporary issues, such as ill health or injury suffered on the day of or just before an assessment.

It’s important to understand both terms in detail, so please read our Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations policy for more information.

  • We have set procedures in place for approving staff to deliver qualifications. We know they can slow things down a bit, but they’re vital in helping us make sure everything is compliant, staff have the right competencies to deliver qualifications, and learners are getting the best education possible.

Special considerations are different to reasonable adjustments. A reasonable adjustment is applied for cases where a learner or apprentice has a long-term disability or difficulty.

It’s important to understand both terms in detail, so please read our Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations policy for more information.

  • Training Qualifications UK is an Awarding Organisation. Our qualifications are offered through approved training providers. If you are interested in enrolling on a TQUK qualification, please contact office@tquk-esea.org with the qualification title you are interested in. A member of the team can then generate a list of approved providers who offer the requested qualification and their corresponding postcodes. You can then contact relevant providers directly for further information regarding delivery methods, fees, enrolment processes etc.

  • To add new qualifications to your centre, please complete the qualification approval form, which is available from us through your Business Development officer. Once we receive the completed form, the Quality Team reviews it within 1-2 weeks and contacts you to complete the process.

There is a fee of HK$ 2,000 per qualification that needs approval. See Fees.

  • Once a learner achieves their qualification they will be issued with a certificate. In most cases, this certificate will not expire. A certificate is more than a piece of paper: it’s a status, an achievement, and achievements don’t expire. Employers may have specific requirements for continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain the knowledge and skills but the certificate will always remain valid.

There are occasions where a certificate does have an expiry date for regulatory purposes. For example, the TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) can be used by employers to show that they meet the health and safety executive necessities for applying first aid in the workplace. However, the HSE requires that these knowledge and skills stay up to date, so learners must undertake refresher training every three years. There will be an expiry date printed on your certificate as a reminder to refresh.

  • There’s no easy answer to this one. All our qualifications contain credits, they can be used for credit transfer or exemption. But, each university sets its own admissions policies, so it’s best for the learner to check directly with their university of choice to make sure they're on the right track.

What we can confirm is that all TQUK Level 3 qualifications carry UCAS points. The most up-to-date UCAS tariff tables are available here.

  • All TQUK Level 3 qualifications carry UCAS points. Find out more by checking out the most up-to-date UCAS tariff tables here.

  • Generally speaking, yes!

Ofqual-regulated qualifications are recognised across the world as high-quality, meaningful awards. We have a lot of international centres and global learners because they know that Ofqual regulation is a mark of quality.

If you’re looking to use your Ofqual-regulated TQUK qualification for a specific purpose abroad – application for a job or another course, for example – you’ll need to check directly with the organisation you’re applying to in order to be sure they recognise it. This is because each authority or institution, whichever country it’s in, may set its own boundaries for what is and isn’t accepted for different purposes, and how they want to use it.

If you need any support with demonstrating your achievement or further details to provide to another organisation, please get in touch with us at office@tquk-esea.org and we’ll do everything we can to help.

Qualifications

Assessment

  • Sessional assessment is assessment that happens at pre-defined times, otherwise known as ‘series’. Think of it as the traditional exam approach: CGSEs are sessional as they are all taken at the same time across the country. Not many of our current qualifications have sessional assessments.

On-demand assessments can be taken at any time of the year, whenever a learner is ready. Most of our qualifications adopt this assessment strategy as it provides the greatest flexibility for our customers who offer roll-on, roll-off learning programmes and means learners don’t have to wait for the next exam series, or rush to get ready for one.

  • As long as there’s nothing in the assessment guidance for the qualification you’re looking to assess that says otherwise, yes, you can use holistic assessment.

Often this is a welcome approach for centres and learners as it can cut down on the amount of evidence that needs to be produced, and minimise repetition. It also offers opportunities to require more in-depth application of knowledge.

  • As long as there’s nothing in the assessment guidance for the qualification you’re looking to assess that says otherwise, yes, you can assess more than one criteria with one piece of evidence.

Often this is a welcome approach for centres and learners as it can cut down on the amount of evidence that needs to be produced and minimise repetition. It also offers opportunities to require more in-depth application of knowledge.

  • Yes, this isn’t an issue, as long as you own the intellectual property rights or have a right to use those materials. We will need to make sure, as we do with all centre devised assessments, that the evidence they lead a learner to produce meets the learning outcomes of our qualification, but once that process is complete, you can go ahead and use those assessments for your learners.

Be careful not to assume that a qualification that looks and feels very similar to one you’re already offering can be evidenced using the same assessments. Subtle differences can exist that means small tweaks need to be made. We’re happy to help with this process.

  • Qualifications with internally set and marked assessment strategies require you to produce your own assessments. We call these Centre Devised Assessments (CDAs) because, well, they are devised by centres!

Internal assessment means that you, the centre, are responsible for designing and marking assessments against the specification for the qualification. It’s a great approach because it allows you the flexibility to adapt assessments to suit the context of your learners and pick and choose the methods you use.

It doesn’t mean you’re on your own though. We’ve got a crack team of assessment experts who can lend a hand, and we will check all of your CDAs before you use them to make doubly sure they do what they should.

  • Submitting your Centre Devised Assessments (CDAs) before you unleash them on learners allows for an independent double-check of your assessment design against the specification requirements for the qualification.

We want to avoid an assessment being completed by a learner and it not providing enough evidence for an award to be made. This would be picked up during External Quality Assurance (EQA) when you first claim for certificates and we would need to go back to the learner to ask for more evidence, which isn’t ideal for anyone.

We only need to check CDAs once at the start, and then if you make any changes to them.

  • Additional time can be arranged, but only in certain situations, such as a Special Consideration or Reasonable Adjustment.

To apply for one, learners should talk to their centre, who will subsequently get in touch with us. We will then investigate and apply the arrangement if it’s seen as justified.

More information about Special Considerations and Reasonable Adjustments can be seen on the Policies and Procedures page of our website.

  • Quite simply, a reasonable adjustment is any action taken by TQUK, a recognised centre or a training provider that helps reduce the effect of a long-term disability or difficulty which places the learner or apprentice at a disadvantage in an assessment situation.

  • A special consideration covers actions taken to account for a temporary issue that could impede a learner or apprentice's performance during an assessment. For example, an injury or ill health suffered on the day of or in the build-up to an assessment.

Special considerations are different to reasonable adjustments. A reasonable adjustment is applied for cases where a learner or apprentice has a long-term disability or difficulty.

It’s important to understand both terms in detail, so please read our Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations policy for more information.

  • We need to make sure that all reasonable adjustments and special considerations are being taken for valid reasons, which is why we ask for evidence to support these requests.

Centres/training providers must take responsibility for providing this and should decide which evidence most clearly shows that the learner/apprentice's needs are valid. Evidence can include:

    • An assessment of the learner/apprentice’s needs in relation to the relevant assessment;

    • A history of provision within the centre/training provider;

    • Written evidence produced by independent, authoritative specialists.

Please read our Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations Policy for more information about evidence and eligibility.

Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations

  • Making sure certificate requests are valid, centres are delivering high quality assessments and learners have really earned their achievement is vital to us, and that’s where sampling comes in.

Sampling occurs when certificates are claimed for learners who have completed a qualification. As part of the process, a member of our Quality Team contacts you to request evidence of work for randomly selected learners and units from the claim.

Once we have what we need, we involve one of our EQAs, who completes the process within 10 working days

  • Healthy disagreement helps create a robust system, so we encourage you to get in touch with us if you have questions or concerns about an EQA judgement.

Just send the learner's name, qualification and any other relevant information to our Quality Team at quality@tquk.org. We can then review the ruling and talk you through it. If necessary, we'll pass the sampling on to the lead EQA for their input as well.

  • We like to make the admin side of things as streamlined as possible, so we offer multiple ways for you to send sampling evidence to us, including email, WeTransfer, Google Drive and Dropbox.

If your learners have completed the evidence in a paper-based format, we recommend that you scan in all assessments and send them to us via the methods mentioned above.

If you use an online platform such as EQUAL, please create an account for the Quality Team. This allows us to view the learner's portfolio through that platform.

  • Staff approval is a vital part of the process; it helps us make sure that assessors have all the competencies they need to do the job.

When you apply for a qualification approval, you'll be asked to send us the documents including:

    • An Assessor/IQA certificate

    • Education certificates

    • An up-to-date CV

After upload, these documents are reviewed by one of our team, who'll be in touch if anything is missing. If the staff member doesn't have an Assessor/IQA certificate but has enrolled on the qualification, evidence such as an enrolment registration receipt or qualification transcript will be accepted.

IQA, EQA and Sampling

  • We get it. Life happens and sometimes certificates get lost, damaged or eaten by the dog. That’s why we make it easy for learners to get a replacement.

Replacement requests must come from a centre. Please submit your request to your centre's Business Development officer. Our Operations Team then processes the request and the certificate should be issued within two working weeks of payment.

Replacement certificate costs a 50% of the original certificate fee.

  • E-certificates are digital copies of learners’ certificates that can be stored on their phones or tablets, shared via email or uploaded without the need to scan a physical piece of paper.

They also have the added advantage of helping us move towards a sustainable future by removing the need for paper certificates.

To find out more about e-certificates and how they can be beneficial to you and your learners, talk to your Business Development officer.

  • If your learner wants to verify their certificate's authenticity, all they need to do is head to our website.

A 'Verify Certificate' option will appear, allowing you to add your first name, last name and certification number (which can be found on your certificate). Just pop them in, hit the search button, and you’ll immediately get verification.
